Congratulations on Your
50th Wedding Anniversary

(Contributed by ROY FOGLE)

I DO  BELIEVE THAT GOD ABOVE,
CREATED YOU FOR ME TO LOVE.
HE PICKED YOU OUT FROM ALL THE REST,
BECAUSE HE KNEW I WOULD LOVE YOU BEST.

I HAD A HEART CALLED "MINE" IT'S TRUE,
BUT NOW IT'S GONE, FROM ME TO YOU.
TAKE CARE OF IT, AS I HAVE DONE,
FOR YOU HAVE TWO, AND I HAVE NONE.

IF I GET TO HEAVEN, AND YOU ARE NOT THERE,
I"LL PAINT YOUR FACE ON THE GOLDEN STAIR.
SO EVERYONE CAN KNOW AND SEE,
JUST WHAT YOU REALLY MEAN TO ME.

BUT IF YOU ARE NOT THERE ON JUDGMENT DAY,
I KNOW THAT YOU HAVE GONE THE OTHER WAY.
SO I WILL GIVE THE ANGELS BACK THEIR WINGS,
THE GOLDEN HARP AND EVERYTHING.
AND JUST TO SHOW YOU WHAT I'D DO,
I WOULD GO TO HELL  DEAR, JUST FOR YOU.

     The Golden Years

The Golden Years, who named it that
It must of been a quack
I know of one thing for sure
They didn't have my back.

And that triple bypass I had
It sure didn't make me laugh
The pain from it was so intense
It left me a little daft.

The weather man, who needs him
My arthritis knows, when it will rain
I find I can't get around
Unless I use my cane.

Whenever I'm in a group
I can't hear a word that's said
Background noise distorts everything
I might as well go to bed.

Now eating is no great fun
Everything I like, I can't have
You know it tastes real good
For me it will be bad.

The aches and pains cost me so much
All my money goes to my physician
Golden Years, I think they are for him
For me, money I'm always fishing.

Calling All Seniors

The Celebration of 50 Years of Marriage is a milestone in a lifetime of love and devotion which only a few are able to enjoy..  For those who become Super Seniors, this is a glory to behold.  Still I have work to do.

A Place For Me

There is a special place in life
That needs my humble skill
A certain job I'm meant to do
that No one else can fill.

The hours may be demanding,
And the pay is not too good
And yet I wouldn't change it
For a moment if I could.

There is a special place in life
A goal I must  attain
A Dream that I must follow
For I won't be back again.

There is a mark that I must leave
However small it be
A legacy of love for those
Who follow after me.

There is a special place in life
That only I may share
A little path that bears my name
Awaiting me somewhere.

There is a hand that I must hold
A word that I must say
A smile that I must give
For there are tears to blot away.

There is a special place in life
That I was meant to fill
A sunny spot where flowers grow
Upon a windy hill.

There's Always a Tomorrow
And the Best is yet to be
And Somewhere in the world I know
There is a Place for Me!

This page is dedicated in tribute to the River Bend couples who have reached the 50 year milestone of the Golden Years.  This is an outstanding achievement.    For many this has been a lifelong dream.  For some however, this has been a long and arduous journey.  Faced with illness in the family, financial problems or at times being incompatible, they have nevertheless  shown compassion for their partners who have shared a lifetime of hard times and good times with them.  This is sharp contrast to many young couples today who quickly turn to divorce when things are not going their way.
