The following is a pictorial history of the construction of the new River Bend Marina & Cafe which was announced on March 4, 2005. The old Oar House was demolished and all of the old docks and boat slips were removed. The old trees were taken down and the area was graded and paved for parking. The marima amd Cafe opened on March 15, 2006. Picture below by Dave Wallace.

Floating
docks have been installed with running water
and
electricity. A new 5000 gallon gas tank has been installed along with
pump-out facilities. A new 5000 square feet building (above) has been
constructed which contains a Ship's Store, a cafe with seating for 65
persons, and business offices. Breakfast and lunches are being
served. . To the right

We begin this section
with an aerial photo by Jay and Betsy Figueroa. The pictures below, taken by Dave
Wallace, show further progress with the installation of the first concrete
girder. The pictures show (1) digging out mud, (2) the first concrete
girder being guided into place, on the boat ramp (3) feeding girder into place,,
(4) girder coming down ramp. (5) steel pilings which will allow the floating
pier to ride up and down, (6) Contractor Jay Ammon on the floating pier,
